Rochester

We came
from California
and Corpus Cristi
parish
down the street.

We came
to Image Justice,
to meet God
in each other,
to meet other people
like us,
to share our
hopes and fears.

We came
as we were,
faithful,
parents,
ministers,
deaf,
transgendered,
priests,
sitting in wheel chairs,
nuns,
men,
blind,
straight,
former Catholics,
women,
abused by
the culture and
our church,
part of the problem,
part of the solution.

We’re going
to hell,
according to
some people —
people
who believe
they’re good
Catholics.

We went
home
to bless
our parishes,
our worlds,
our church
with our gifts —
we
who believe
we’re good
Catholics
too.
